How to build your own street hockey net for under £35!
Street hockey is a great way to have some fun, practice your passing, and your shot. One of the keys to a good street hockey game is a good net, and this page is designed to help you build your own for under £35 and in under an hour.
The result is a sturdy, weatherproof regulation size net that will last for years and years and all the parts are avaiable at your local hardware shop (B&Q, Homebase, etc) and garden centre.
So if you are ready to go, let's get started!
What you will need
-
12m 40mm waste water plastic piping (sold in either 3m or 1.5m lengths)
-
6 x 90 degree elbow joints
-
4 x 45 degree elbow joints
-
4 x T-joints
-
2 metres garden netting or mesh
Step 1 Cut the pipe into the following pieces
-
2 x 58.5" (A)
-
2 x 46.75" (B)

Step 2 - The Crossbar, Back Bar, Posts and Side Bars
Using Pipes G, attach the 90 degree connectors to the T Joints as shown below, do this on both sides of the net:

Pipe A is attached to the end of the T joint, these form the cross-bar and back bar.
Pipe B is attached to the top 90 degree connector to form the posts
Pipe C is attached to the 90 degree connector to form the bottom sides of the net, then use a 90 degree connector to attach Pipes B & C together. Step 3 - The L supports
Pipes D, E, and F are connected using the 45 degree connectors to make the L supports, as shown below:

Step 4 - Finishing the job
All that is left to do is to attach the L supports to the frame you made in step 2 and add the netting. The finished result should look like this:
